Causing dehydrated or drinking too many drinks with low electrolyte content (conductivity) can lead to a dangerous condition - hyponatraemia
Hyponatraemia is a condition of sodium deficiency in the blood which, if untreated, is deadly. It manifests itself, among other things, in nausea, vomiting, irritability, weakness and, in more severe states, also in disorders of orientation and consciousness, convulsions, swelling of the brain and sometimes coma.
The problem lies not only in water with too few electrolyte, but also in excessive intake of highly mineralised fluids. Despite drinking 'just the right amount' of water, dehydration can occur due to the outflow of water from the bloodstream into the digestive system.
This is the result of disturbed electrolyte, concentrations. It is safe to say that water can prove poisonous. It all depends on the doseTherefore, people who especially need to take care of their hydration should pay attention to what and how they drink. So that the quantity and quality of the fluid is adapted to their lifestyle, work and the environment in which they function.
